Dr. Richard Buck - Owner
Dr. Richard Buck attended the University of Arkansas for undergrad and graduated from Southern College of Optometry. Dr. Buck has been dedicated to providing quality family eye care in Memphis, Tennessee, since 1976. He offers a truly unique optometric concept by providing eye care services seven days a week. His friendly, honest and forthright manner of dealing with people from all walks of life on a one-on-one basis has made Dr. Buck a leader in his field.

Dr. Buck has been a foremost advocate of fair business practices and community-minded ventures and he is highly regarded throughout the area. With three offices equipped with the latest in technology, a dedication to convenience, prompt service, and reasonable prices, Master Eye Associates is known and recognized for integrity, friendliness, and all-around excellence in vision care.

Dr. Alexis Grycko
Dr. Alexis Grycko graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in biochemistry. She then received her optometric doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. During her clinical rotations, Dr. Grycko worked at a VA Hospital, a private practice, and the Eye Center at Southern College, where she saw patients of all age groups. There she performed comprehensive, medical, and follow-up exams.

She is a licensed therapeutic optometrist dedicated to providing the best eye care for her patients at Master Eye Associates. She is confident in prescribing glasses and contact lenses that fit the visual needs of her patients, along with diagnosing and treating medical eye conditions of both the front and back of the eye. She currently resides in Memphis, TN and joined the Master Eye Associates team.

Dr. Rachel Barrantes

Dr. Rachel Barrantes graduated from Freed-Hardeman University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.

She obtained her doctorate at SCO. She then completed a residency in Ocular Disease at the Memphis VAMC. Dr. Barrantes as a licensed therapeutic optometrist in Mississippi and Tennessee, is dedicated to providing the best care for her patients for the treatment and management of their visual needs.

Dr. Sidney Taylor

Dr. Sidney Taylor earned his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) before attending optometry school at Southern College of Optometry (SCO) in Memphis, TN. He graduated from SCO in 2017 and is now a licensed optometrist in both Tennessee and Mississippi. He is skilled in all areas of optometry including prescribing eye glasses and contact lenses, and also diagnosing and treating ocular diseases, such as dry eye, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and many others.

Dr. Taylor currently resides in Southaven, Mississippi with his wife and 2 children and would love to see you for any eye care needs you may have.

Dr. Shawn Hellums

Dr. Shawn Hellums is a seasoned optometrist with over 25 years of experience providing comprehensive, patient-centered eye care. He specializes in comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and dry eye syndrome.

With a special clinical interest in fitting contact lenses for patients with keratoconus, corneal irregularities, and other complex or difficult-to-fit cases, Dr. Hellums brings advanced expertise to those requiring customized vision solutions.

Dr. Hellums graduated with honors with a double major in biology and chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he conducted biochemistry research under the direction of the Biology Department Head Professor. After earning his undergraduate degree and two years in research and development at Viral Antigens, Inc. in Memphis, he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in 2000. While in optometry school, he also gained valuable clinical experience working for the Mid-South Eye Bank, further strengthening his understanding of corneal health and transplantation.

Committed to a collaborative approach, Dr. Hellums believes that involving patients in their own eye health is essential for achieving the best outcomes. He takes pride in educating and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their vision care.

Known for his meticulous approach and clear communication, Dr. Hellums is dedicated to delivering personalized care that enhances long-term eye health and vision quality. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, and exploring his interests in engineering CAD design and 3D printing.
